Gold foil stamping on black matte finish is one of the classic and luxurious crafts for plastic card. But in real production, not every design is suitable for foil stamping. Despite of gold foil stamping, there are many other gold effects can be supported.

Client R sent us a card artwork as following shows. She wants gold foil stamping for all the gold design parts. That’s really a nice design, we could image how beautiful the real card would be.

But after checked her artwork carefully, we found several problems.

1.The small text.

There are some small text in the front logo design. The text are too small to be seen. Foil stamping is suitable for large design and text. If use foil stamping for this logo, the text will become several black dots that we cannot readable.

2. The variable numbers.

The numbers are variable and need to be foiled. As you know, we need make foil stamping template in production and the template are stable, we cannot make so many templates for every card with different numbers, it will be very expensive and unpractical.

3. The gold stripe on edge

The gold stripe on the backside is clinging to the card edge, it may get scratch and defect in die cutting. Meanwhile, the area of this gold stripe is too large, gold maynot be foiled tightly for full area.

How to move on this project? As we mentioned, despite of the gold foil stamping, we can do other beautiful gold effects. According to client R’s artwork, we made a solution for her.

1. Use PMS gold silk printing for all the gold parts (logo, gold stripe etc). In this way, the small text can be read and gold stripe will be nice.

2. Use gold ribbon thermal printing for the variable numbers. In this way, the numbers can be shiny gold and the number will be unique on each card.

Packaged with custom paper cover, the card will be more deluxe and luxurious.
